Dr. Ziomek

Dr Ziomek

Dr. Ziomek is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.  He graduated from the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University of Chicago.  He is a member and Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member of the American Medical Association and American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Ziomek’s other interests include wood working and jazz piano.  He and his wife Bernadette have been married since 1979 and have four children and 2 grandchildren

Taylor Ortega-Calzadilla, PA-C

Taylor Ortega

Taylor is a NCCPA certified physician assistant that joined the dermatology team at LAMCC in November of 2019. She received her undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University, then went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of St. Francis.

Originally from a small town in southern New Mexico, she is now living in Santa Fe with her husband and cat, Conchita. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, going to concerts, and binge watching the newest Netflix selection.

Galina Batygina, PA-C

Galina Batygina

Galina was born in Moscow, Russia which is where she spent the first half of her life.  She graduated from Moscow State Medical University, and worked as a pediatrician, but has always been attracted to psychiatry.

She was admitted to graduate school in Moscow Institute of Psychiatry, started research in developing screening methods for detection of early signs of hidden depression among high school students, defended her thesis and had been granted a PhD a few years later.

In December 1999, Dr. Batygina’s family moved to San Jose, CA.  Her foreign MD credentials were not transferable.  Dr. Batygina graduated from the Primary Care Associate’s program at Stanford Medical School and became a licensed clinician.

Her first choice of job was at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in the orthopedic department where she worked as a Physician’s Assistant seeing patients in the clinic and performing 1st assistant in surgery.

In 2012, Dr. Batygina moved to Santa Fe, NM to join her husband who works at LANL.  She worked at ABQ Health Partners, but after 3 years of commute to Albuquerque and 1 car lost, she happily joined LAMCC, where she enjoys working in collaboration with the wonderful doctors and staff.

While not at work, Dr. Batygina enjoys traveling, particularly to CA, where she has children, grandchildren, a grandcat, granddog and grandfish. She likes music, literature, paintings and spends time on multiple beautiful trails that surround Santa Fe.”

Monique Beyerle

Monique Beyerle

Ms. Beyerle has been with the Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic since 2008. She provides for the skin care needs of Northern New Mexico under the supervision of Dr. Lori Whitey, Dr. Mike Jackson, and Dr. James Ziomek.

Monique is able to accommodate such dermatological needs as: actinic keratoses, acne including extractions, cyst removals, dermatitis, fungal infections, molluscum infections, psoriasis, rashes, rosacea, seborrheic keratoses, skin cancer screenings and treatment of skin cancers, skin infections, skin tags, verrucae, and viral infections. She is able to perform minor surgical procedures including biopsies, destructive treatments, and excisions. She is also a registered ipledge provider.

Monique completed her Physician Assistant training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at San Diego State University where she worked with athletes from many different sports teams and earned her certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association.

 

As a prior Navy corpsman, Monique’s service began with the Marine’s Third Force Service Support Group as a pharmacy technician on the tropical island of Okinawa, Japan. She then attended physical therapy technician school through the Navy and moved to San Diego where she worked in the PT department at Balboa Hospital for three years.

Her medical interests include: acne, skin cancer, and community health education.

In her spare time, Monique enjoys hiking, bike riding, traveling, and photography. The apples of Monique’s eye are her adopted pups Piper and Boone, with the most recent addition, a foster adopted puppy named Pumpkin through Jemez Valley Animal Amigos. She is also a proud Tía to three sweet, sassy, beautiful, southern girls.

Dr. Lori Whitley

Lori S. Whitley, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, practicing at Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic since 2006.  Prior to moving to New Mexico, Dr. Whitley earned a Doctorate of Medicine with Special Distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and completed her dermatology residency at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Whitley’s expertise as a skin specialist has allowed her to cultivate a varied practice including children and adults with both acute and chronic skin conditions.  Her extensive residency training in dermoscopy and ongoing interest in this technique allows her diagnose skin lesions with greater accuracy.   She also performs biopsies and surgical excisions of skin lesions and cancers.   Dr. Whitley is experienced in providing cosmetic services to enhance the skin’s appearance, with a special interest in botox injections and dermal fillers.

Dr. Whitley enjoys hiking, traveling, exploring archeologic sites, and gardening.

Dr. Snowden

Dr. Snowden graduated in 1999 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (now known as Rutgers Medical School) and went on to complete her dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Christina Care and Al Dupont Hospital for Children in Delaware.

She realized at that point that she wanted to become a rheumatologist through one of her elective rotations and fell in love with learning  about autoimmune diseases.  She completed her fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in 2006 in Adult Rheumatology and went back to work for Christiana Care until deciding to move to Los Alamos in 2012 where she felt family life was just as important as medicine.

She lives in Los Alamos with her husband Bill, daughter, and 2 dogs and 2 cats.  They love to travel, hike, and watch movies together.

Dr. Richard Honsinger

Dr. Honsinger has practiced in Los Alamos since 1969.  He is Board-certified and recertified in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology.  He is an honor graduate of Washington State University and the University Of Washington School Of Medicine where he received Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honors.  His postdoctoral training was at the University of North Carolina and the University of Washington.  He has been active in research, teaching, lecturing.  He is author of many medical articles and co-editor of the Handbook of Drug Allergy.  He is a clinical professor at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine.  He is active in community affairs and served 20 years on the advisory board for UNM/LA.  Dr. Honsinger is medical co-director of the respiratory therapy program at Santa Fe Community College. He received the Laureate Award as the outstanding internist from the New Mexico Chapter of the American College of Physicians.  He received national leadership awards from both the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immmunology.  He served 3 terms as chief of staff at Los Alamos Medical Center.  Dr. Honsinger has been named Master of the American College of Physicians.  He is listed in both Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology in Best Doctors of America.

Dr. Honsinger currently serves as a consultant to the Food and Drug Administration, is Vice-chair of The Council of Subspecialty Societies, and the past president of the Joint Council of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.  He serves on editorial boards or review boards of the four major US allergy/immunology research journals.

Dr. Honsinger’s practice is limited to consultation in the field of allergy and immunology.  His particular interests include allergic diseases, asthma, urticaria (hives), and immune deficiencies.  Allergy testing for pollens, molds, foods and drugs is available.   Immunotherapy (allergy shots) are given without appointments, four days per week.

Dr. Elisa Lange

Dr. Elisa Lange

Dr. Lange completed medical school at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Pediatric Residency at Children’s Medical Center, and Allergy and Immunology Residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital, all in Dallas, Texas. She is board certified in Allergy and Immunology and cares for both children and adults. She practiced in Dallas for 28 years before relocating to Los Alamos.

Dr. Lange’s interests include food allergy as well as nasal allergy and asthma. She enjoys hiking, snow shoeing, and traveling. She is married to Dr. Kurt Lange, a gastroenterologist at Los Alamos Medical Center. They have three grown children.
